Punk. Grunge. Rock. Pirates and the New Romantic movement. Without Vivienne Westwood’s influence, these movements in British youth culture and rebellion would have been nowhere near as visually exciting. Born in Derby, Vivienne Westwood moved to London and eventually became a fashion designer after working with The Sex Pistols and creating their now infamous punk rock look. Her influence on British fashion and anti-establishmentism during the 70s and 80s is so wide that to this day, although never a singer and never officially ‘in’ the music industry, she is credited with being an integral part of founding the ‘punk’ music and culture scene.
