WEBSITE, PRODUCT AND RANGE REVIEW
Anyone else seen that classic 80′s film where the guy is trapped living in the department store in New York where everything comes alive at night? If that happened to me, I’d want to it to be Harrods London.
In fact, let me be honest, I’d kinda like that to happen to me if it were Harrods. There’s a Krispy Kreme factory and an in-house ‘personal sushi chef’ – so you sort of wouldn’t ever have to leave the building. Plus you’d be dressed head to toe in the world’s finest menswear labels during the day – and as the evening draws to a close you’d recline to their world famous Cigar Room, single malt whisky in hand, in your Tom Ford smoking jacket.
Harrods – it’s a name that has symbolised the ‘finer things in life’ when it comes to shopping, for generations. And at last they’re online, with a range of designer menswear and luxury brand men’s accessories that makes shopping online for clothes and shoes just that little bit more luxurious. And who would say no to that?
We’ll start by saying the range of brands online at Harrods.com is broad and represents a great Harrods shopping experience with names we’d know and expect to find in store: Aquascutum, Armani Collezioni, Alfred Dunhill, Giorgio Armani, Moncler, Paul Smith and many other well known menswear designers. There also some very pleasant surprises of newer designers including 3.1 Phillip Lim and Mr. by Rolant Mouret which make a welcome addition to the website.
The site is well stocked and its always pleasing to see a retailer step outside of the normal ‘s-m-l-xl’ stock selection but to also pick up the extended sizes like ‘xs’, ‘xxl’ and even ‘xxxl’ so good on Harrods for doing that.
You can also earn ‘rewards’ on your online shopping as well as the Knightsbridge store, which is a nice touch to get us shopping online.
We strongly encourage you to sign up to the Harrods Reward Card too.
The Harrods Reward card is NOT a credit card and is NOT a store card – for those of you who live in the UK, it’s basically like a Tesco Club Card – but a bit posher of course, the main point being that you earn points on your Harrods shopping in the store and online. You can learn more about the Reward Card here:

Why not higher?
We love Harrods. BUT we only ever give 4* stars or more if the store has free shipping for UK shoppers and international shipping alongside a wide range of the designer labels we like. Harrods has a fantastic brand and product selection, but it does not offer free postage for UK shoppers. It’s something we feel quite strongly about at MilanStyle.co.uk. So this gives them a markdown on a small but important point.
Enormous respect to Harrods.com for launching online and raising the bar in what it means to sell genuine luxury goods online and it is clearly ready to prove its worth in the world of men’s designer clothes shopping online. Well done too for bringing some new and cutting edge designers to the mix…BUT.
But it’s definitely not the full Harrods experience you might expect if you’re familiar with the actual London store. Famous for its Italian and European designer concessions in-store, we want and need Harrods.com to deliver us those same menswear brands as the Knightsbridge store we all know and love: Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Ermenigildo Zegna, Louis Vuitton, Dior and dare we say it… TOM FORD? (Plea to anyone who will listen – TOM FORD is the brand we get the most requests about stocking!)
This may be due to agreements Harrods (and indeed Selfridges) who we presume have the same restrictions with those brands labels mentioned, but we really need someone to go for it. Online shoppers want and need those brands on your sites. Which retailer will accept our challenge?
