Sometimes it takes the French to take a functional garment and make it fashionable. Moncler is one such brand. When entrepreneur Remo Ruffini, current President and Creative Director of Moncler took over the brand in 2003, he had one goal: “to rewrite” the history of the brand, by developing the brand, studying the materials, experimenting with the treatments, researching the style.  Put simply, to make Moncler the brand of “Global Down Jacket”.

Since its creation in 1952, France, Moncler has become famous for its quilted jackets, ski and outdoor-wear. And while there may be many equally established and well made ski-brands and outdoor jacket specialists, few can match the highly stylised look and appeal of the now Italian owned brand Moncler. Managing to make jackets which are entirely fit for purpose (keeping you warm on the ski slopes) but equally stylish ‘off piste’, Moncler’s quilted nylon jackets, waistcoats and gilets have become a regular sighting on the streets of the world’s major fashion capitals, in the same way Barbour have taken the ‘country’ look to the streets of the city here in England. Filled with duck down, (the brand has first pick on Europe’s finest duck down feathers before they arrive on the market) Moncler’s collection sees warm but lightweight nylon and wool jackets which take you from winter holiday to the city’s most stylish wardrobes when it gets cold. Moncler uses only the highest quality four-tuft down, known as ‘duvet neuf’ creating impressively warm outerwear that has been cut to move with your body for maximum comfort. If you want the uber-luxurious versions, you can also choose their parka jackets with the hoods lined in genuine coyote fur.

Sized in the continental system with sizes 0, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7; the higher number, the bigger the size with ‘0’ being something like an XS and a ‘7’ being an XXXL – although please note that would be more like a British XXL.

Moncler has also introduced other cold weather essentials into its menswear collection this season, with handmade jumpers, wool sweaters, knitted scarves and hats all making a perfect match to your new Moncler jacket.
