Givenchy
Brand: givenchy
Givenchy's menswear line joins the renaissance of French fashion houses in the past few years, following on from the late Monsieur Hubert de Givenchy’s ‘Givenchy Homme’ collection for men in the 1970s.
With Parisian houses Lanvin, YSL, Dior Homme and Balmain already resurgent in the international menswear market, Givenchy’s revitalised menswear line is now also making an impact, with a darker and bolder aesthetic.
Givenchy, another of those old European houses which manages to reinvent itself each decade while still staying true to the original Mr. Givenchy’s take on style, has seen many British designers come and go through its famous doors.
John Galliano and then Alexander McQueen both at womenswear, and Savile Row tailor supreme, Ozwald Boateng at Givenchy menswear. Recently taking on the responsibility of both Givenchy's menswear and womenswear, Ricardo Tisci has proved himself more than capable of a seemingly impossible task. Since his appointment in 2005 Tisci has breathed new life into the once dormant establishment, making it one of the most coveted fashion houses currently in operation.
Whichever designer stands behind the latest men’s ‘Givenchy Homme’ collection though, it will always be Mr. Givenchy’s name who reminds us of his timeless, aristocratic style and what it means to be well dressed.
