"It's not enough to expect a man to pay for the best; you must also give him what he has paid for." Alfred Dunhill.

Dunhill London, founded in 1893 by Alfred Dunhill is another timeless British heritage brand with a long and enviable history in the hearts of London’s high society, upper class gentlemen providing ‘Everything for the car but the motor.’

Starting life as a car accessories and cigar specialist, the company has evolved and expanded its line to encompass not only menswear accessories including its famous leather wallets and belts, fine silver cufflinks and money clips, but also menswear itself. The brand is proud of its uniquely British, and within that, ‘Londoner’ heritage, with ‘London’ imagery and icons such as Big Ben, British bulldogs and classic telephone boxes all regularly featuring on cufflinks, handkerchiefs and fabric linings. The Dunhill brand also of course is famous for its ‘London’ fragrance.

Dunhill has not rested on its success in its quest for the best in defining a gentleman’s style and its flagship stores in London and Tokyo offer bespoke tailoring services, using the brand’s own exquisitely produced woollen fabrics produced exclusively for Alfred Dunhill. Made in Yorkshire, Britain of course.

Like its surviving contemporaries Barbour, Burberry and Belstaff, there is something unique about the British Dunhill brand that has allowed it to survive two World Wars, foreign ownership, yet retain its founding sensibility of adherence to quality and craftsmanship at all costs, allowing the brand to not only survive but thrive. Perhaps it is best summed up by their customer service promise:

“Every single Dunhill product is designed with the thought that it will be passed down from father to son.”
