Having sadly passed away, Alexander McQueen had been hailed a modern design genius, and now, legend.
The ‘Bad boy of British fashion’, the late designer clashed sharp tailoring expertise with contemporary innovation and raw emotion. This unique concotion earned him international fame, an OBE and a record four British Designer Of The Year awards.
Fortunately, Alexander McQueen’s legacy lives on and the collection continues with the support of the Gucci group who own a stake in his business. With the label now under the direction of his former understudy, Sarah Burton, the Alexander McQueen label is secured for the future. Burton worked with the designer for many years on his most important and influential collections, right up until his death.
Alexander McQueen also introduced the McQ range in 2006, a high end take on British street fashion, focussing on a younger customer, creating clothes for them which could be worn with jeans and more casually (and more affordably) than the ‘Alexander McQueen’ mainline men’s collection.
